Setting: Paris, France.
Okay, so this amazing love story takes place in Paris, France. FREAKING PARIS, FRANCE! The city of love. Perfect for a love story, right? I think it is. Honestly, I cannot picture the story being able to take place anywhere else besides Paris. It adds perfectly to the whole romance feel of the story. Perkins describes Paris so perfectly that while you're reading, you picture yourself there with the characters. You can taste the food they taste and see the sights they see. Amazing.
Main Characters:
- Anna Oliphant (Banana Elephant)
Anna is awesome. Awesome-Anna. She's sarcastic, clever, intelligent, and a sweetheart. (No wonder Étienne falls in love with her.) I personally wish I was more like Anna.
- Étienne St. Clair
Étienne is an English French American Boy Masterpiece. He's a charming, smart, lovable young man who every girl is hypnotized by (including me). By the end of the story I felt like crying half because the story was over and the other half because guys like Étienne St. Clair probably don't exist, or are very hard to find.
Basic situation:
The story starts off when Anna Oliphant is sent to a boarding school named SOAP (School of America in Paris) in Paris, France. She was forcibly made to go by her Father whom she does not really get along with. On the first day there, she meets Meredith, a sweet girl and soccer player (or should I say football player). Through Meredith she is able to meet her soon to be new best friends: Josh, Rashmi, and of course, Étienne St. Clair.
From the start, Anna has a major crush, or even more than a crush, on St. Clair. But there's one problem, he has a girlfriend, Ellie. And she has her almost-boyfriend, Toph, in Atlanta. Throughout the story Anna goes on a crazy roller coaster of ups and downs and she is able to experience the true meaning of friendship and love.
My Thoughts:
If you have not read this book, then you are missing out on something absolutely marvelous.
